Fall is a wonderful time to connect with the farm and animals in our outdoor classrooms. With the cooler weather farm activities shift to harvesting crops and preparing animals for the winter. Here is a list of the programs that we will offer this fall. Visit our Kid’s Classes page to learn more and to access the Bedford Recreation Department’s registration page.
Little Farmers – Preschoolers ages 2.5 – 5 learn what it takes to be a farmer through stories, games, crafts and real farm work. Sessions include 4 3-hour long classes that meet once a week.
Pony Power Hour – Preschoolers ages 2.5 – 5 learn horse safety, how to approach a horse, grooming, leading pony rides and horse decorating. Sessions include 4 1-hour long classes that meet once a week.
Hired Hands – Grade-schoolers learn about the farms through care and feeding of our animals, crafts, stories, games and cooking projects. Sessions are offered for Grades K -2 and 3 – 5 and include 4 2-hour long classes that meet weekly after school.
Pony Works – Grade-schoolers learn basic and advance pony skills including obstacle courses, horse walking, pony cart driving and rides. Sessions are offered for Grades K -2 and 3 – 5 and include 4 2-hour long classes that meet weekly after school.
No School Day Program – Kids in grades K – 3 will spend the day feeding and caring for animals, harvesting the crops and more! This 6 hour pop-up program for will take place on November 8.
The programs are offered through the Bedford Recreation Department. Please note that you do not have to be a resident to register.
